Mahin Sadri began her career as a poet and later transitioned to writing for cinema, earning recognition with the Best Screenplay Award in Iranian Youth Cinema Society Competition. At 21, she directed her first short film in Rasht before pursuing studies in German language at a university in Tehran. As a journalist, Sadri conducted interviews with Iranian playwrights and directors, eventually collaborating with Mehr Theatre Group artistic director Amir Reza Koohestani for over two decades. Together, they produced nearly twenty productions showcased at international theater festivals. In 2013, Sadri ventured into playwriting and directing, winning the Best Play Award at Fajr Theater Festival for A Bit More Everyday (Ham Havayi) and presenting it at numerous international festivals.
Alongside her theatrical pursuits, she continues to write film scripts, direct short films, and contribute as an Assignment Editor for theater magazines.
Since 2016, Sadri has been involved in productions at esteemed theaters in Germany, Switzerland and France as an actress, playwright, and director.
In cinema, her talent shone in the movie The Great Yawn of History, which received the Jury Prize at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival’s Encounter section.
Currently, Sadri is preparing for her upcoming role in the play The Documentary produced by the Riksteatern in Sweden, followed by her adaptation of Schiller’s Maria Stuart at the Landestheater Niederösterreich in St. Pölten in September 2024.
